We are working with a well-established multinational organisation that is continuing to expand its advanced analytics and AI capability in the South East. They are seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer to drive the design and delivery of scalable, production-grade ML solutions that directly support key business outcomes.

As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you will design, build, and deploy robust machine learning and data science solutions within a modern cloud-enabled environment. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure data is leveraged effectively as a strategic asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy scalable machine learning and data science solutions

  • Lead development of production-grade ML models and supporting pipelines

  • Drive best practices across DataOps, DevSecOps, and ML engineering

  • Work across cloud and containerised environments to support model deployment

  • Improve data quality, performance, reliability, and scalability of data platforms

  • Translate business requirements into data-informed technical solutions

  • Contribute to data modelling, governance, and security best practices

  • Develop and execute testing strategies for ML and data solutions

  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to engineering team members

  • Influence architectural decisions and promote a data-first engineering culture

Requirements

Essential:

  • 4+ Years of industry based experience in machine learning / data science engineering

  • Proven experience delivering production ML solutions

  • Strong programming skills in Python (R also beneficial)

  • Experience working with Linux-based and cloud environments (AWS preferred)

  • Familiarity with containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker/Kubernetes)

  • Solid understanding of data modelling, data pipelines, and scalable architectures

  • Experience across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)

  • Strong testing and validation experience for data and ML systems

  • Excellent problem-solving and technical leadership skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with data science platforms such as Dataiku

  • Exposure to GenAI patterns (e.g., RAG)

  • Knowledge of data governance, privacy, and security frameworks

  • Experience improving performance and reliability of large-scale data systems

  • Background mentoring or leading other engineers

This role is 2 days a week on site in the South east o being within a commutable distance in the mentioned location is crucial
